Royals Set FOX Sports Kansas City Ratings Record
Royals fever has been reignited.
Last night’s Royals game was the highest-rated telecast ever on FOX Sports Kansas City, averaging a 17.6 household rating/158,000 households in the Kansas City DMA according to Nielsen Media Research.
The previous high, a 17.3, came on April 26, 2015. This is the 15th season of Royals baseball on FSKC.
The Royals’ 10-5 win over Tampa Bay was the most-watched program of the day in Kansas City and attracted more than twice as many viewers as the No. 2 program, ABC’s World News Tonight (8.4). FOX Sports Kansas City (17.6) out-rated Kansas City’s ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC affiliates combined (16.1) during the game (7-10:45 p.m.).
The Royals have won seven of eight to vault into first place in the AL Central, and fans have taken notice. In addition to Tuesday’s record number, Monday’s game earned the third-best rating of the season and last Tuesday’s win at Minnesota the fourth best.
Through May, the Royals on FSKC are averaging a 12.4 household rating, up 2 percent vs. last year’s record pace. The Royals’ local-market TV ratings rank No. 1 in MLB and are on pace to be the highest in MLB since 2002.
