Springfield, MO – The Texas League of Professional Baseball Clubs announced today the creation of a new logo for the eight-team Double-A league. One of the most historic of all of the minor leagues, the Texas League has been in operation since 1888.
The new logo, created by Schilling/Sellmeyer and Associates, encapsulates the rich history of the Texas League while providing a refreshed and modernized look. The prominence of the white star in the blue background, along with the blocks of white and red, pay homage to the Texas flag and the long-standing ties that the league has with the Lone Star State. Additionally, by incorporating a version of the iconic batter image, which is prominent in both the Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball brands, the new Texas League logo exhibits the circuit’s deep tradition of developing the future stars of organized professional baseball.
“It’s been more than 20 years since the Texas League’s last logo redesign, so the league collectively felt it was time for a revamped look,” said Texas League President Tom Kayser. “Our goal was to stay simple and strong, while not losing sight of the great history of the league. The ‘Star’ in particular not only signifies the Texas connection, but it also represents the future stars of Major League Baseball that our teams’ fans get to watch on a nightly basis. We have so many great individual brands in the league, this is a great complement to them.”
“We were honored with the opportunity to refine such a historic brand and one of the most recognized icons in professional baseball,” said Matt Sellmeyer, President of Schilling/Sellmeyer & Associates. “We really enjoyed working with everyone involved and it is truly a privilege to have our logo selected by the Texas League.”
The complete logo can be deconstructed down to just the icon of the brand to maximize the logo’s versatility and exposure. The two alternate versions are shown in the header above.
